Every company has its own distinct staffing needs and challenges – and there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all staffing strategy.

What is your greatest staffing concern right now? What will it be six months from now? Are you worried about hiring during your busy season or the increasingly high turnover rates in your production staff? Your company’s pain points may be completely different than businesses in other industries or even your direct competitors.

To identify patterns, predict trends, and implement new processes in your staffing, you need to start by examining the valuable information you already have. Data is key to understanding your company’s current and future staffing problems and developing solutions.

“Data plays a pivotal role in the staffing services we provide for our clients,” said Director of Staffing Solutions for Exegistics, Chris Randich. “Before we design a staffing strategy, we collect and analyze important information about the company, from turnover and retention rates to the characteristics of successful hires and other key performance indicators. We look at what is working well in a company and what we can help improve. That’s our starting point for building a customized staffing strategy.”

While labor shortages or staffing challenges are frustrating to deal with in the moment, they actually present your company with opportunities to reassess your current processes, make positive changes, and gain a competitive advantage over other companies. Follow these three steps as you explore your staffing data.

Measure

Determine your company’s specific priorities, concerns, and key performance indicators. What does staffing success look like? Does that change throughout the year (busy season vs. slow, for example)? How can you quantify and measure outcomes?

Evaluate

Go beyond the numbers and look for deeper insights. What is the data telling you? Do you notice any staffing trends or patterns? Zoom out from the facts and figures to see the full picture. Where do you see gaps or problems? Can you ascertain their root cause?

Strategize

Now that you’ve gathered and analyzed your data, come up with an actionable plan to transform your staffing strategy. How can you address the problems you identified? What changes can you make to produce better hiring and staffing results? If you need additional support, work with a partner that specializes in staffing solutions.

“Many of our clients want to strengthen their teams and upgrade their staffing processes, but they don’t have the time or resources to do it in-house,” said Randich. “Exegistics figures out exactly what each company needs and then executes a plan to make it happen. We take care of everything, from start to finish, and they just get to enjoy the results.”
